I have a page whose source is about 175k in size. It seems to be basically a heavily-formatted table.
Upon editing the page, if I click Preview, it takes a LONG time - long enough to timeout.
By inserting copious debugging statements it appears that the issue is when Render.pm calls preRenderingHandler and the size of $text goes from about 150k to over 19 megs in size. After that, each string operation on $text naturally takes a long time.
This doesn't happen this way when just viewing the page, or when saving. In this case, the $text string goes up to about 800k. It takes a few seconds to save but not an excessive amount.
Any clues here as to what's going on?
