Question
Hello,
is some form of
RCS really mandatory in twiki?
that is: is it possible to run twiki without any
rcs at all, and if yes, what do you lose without
it, only the capability to store and retrieve
previous versions?
The reason I ask is to figure out if it is possible
to make a portable live copy, that is one which is still capable to make searches, generate pages
on the fly depending on what a user enters into
a form. This could be useful both for making
a backup copy or for carrying along all your
data and their management system in a USB key

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
TWiki is not designed to rip out RCS, but it can handle text files without repository files. You can create or copy just the .txt files, e.g. without the .txt,v RCS files. TWiki search works just fine. When you edit an existing page that has no .txt,v file it will be created, with the changes marked as rev 2.
