Question

The symptoms are as follows: When I submit a registration, the htpasswd entry gets created, the TWikiUsers index updated, but no user topic is created, and I get a bin/oops redirection -- a blank one. There is no error displayed, and nothing useful is logged, only this:

My installation is an 'upgrade' from TWiki installation 4.0 to 4.1.2 -- I installed a fresh 4.1.2, and copied the old webs and TWikiUsers into it. Everything worked, except that new user registration had not functioned at first. Eventually, by the process of elimination, I discovered that the problem was with TWikiUsers node, which I had copied from the old installation -- TWiki would choke on it. The problem was with the number of spaces before '*' in the user index.

So, I fixed that; but now the problem is back, and even reverting to the original blank TWikiUsers doesn't help. The htpasswd entry gets created, the user index gets updated, but no user node is created, and I get a blank error page.
