Question

Hello!

I use RSS Popper which is a news feed add-in for Outlook & Outlook Express. It works great for Webs that don't have access restrictions. Once I set "!AllowTopicView" to a certain Group, it fails.

Is there a setting Í did not find yet? Does a workaround exist? Do i have to modify WebRss?

I think i read somewhere about RSS and Access-Control but do not find it anymore :-/

Thank u for help and ideas!

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.

That is the spec of TWiki, TWiki tries to authenticate the user if needed (e.g. if a topic has an access restriction. You can do a workaround by generating a static RSS feed as described in HowToCacheRssFeedsWithRewriteRule. The cron job would do an authenticate access every time; users would access the static RSS URL (or even the TWiki view URL with an Apache rewrite rule.)
