Question

In my efforts to create MultipleInstallationsUsingSingleTWikiGuts I decided to move my plugins over to their own web as discussed in PluginsWebOrTWikiWebForPluginPackages. I did this so I could share the plugins on both installations and did not want to share the TWiki web because it contains the site preferences.

However, in the course of moving the plugins to a new Plugins web, I ran into trouble. It appears to me that the DefaultPlugin somehow became disabled because all TWiki formatting was lost and my site displayed with a bunch of brackets ("[[]]") between words. After moving some of the basic plugins back into the TWiki web, things straightened out however it was not clear to me why.

On my second site where I was experimenting with using symlinks to core components of my main site, I never could get it to work. As long as I included a symlink to my Plugins web on the main site, the formatting on the site went haywire.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on or what could cause a conflict between the TWiki and Plugins webs? Are there certain plugins that have to be in the TWiki web? Is there something about the sequence of how plugins are loaded that could cause this?

Environment

InterwikiPlugin, plus a bunch more... wink
Server OS: Linux
Web server: Apache/1.3.27
