Question

Hi -- I am trying to do this:

* line 1

  • line2
    • line3
      1. line4
      2. line5
      3. line6

The syntax for numbered list seems to only work if it's at the beginning of the line, not within the bullet lists.

thx for any info.

sophia

You can simulate a numbered list by writing the numbers by hand:

  • line 1
    • line2
      • line3
        • 1. line4
        • 2. line5
        • 3. line6

You must be kidding, Arthur. wink This

   * line 1
      * line2
         * line3
            1. line4
            1. line5
            1. line6
produces
  • line 1
    • line2
      • line3
        1. line4
        2. line5
        3. line6

Well, looks like expected. -- What was the question again?

-- FranzJosefGigler - 21 Feb 2008

Thanks Arthur. So numbered list doesn't work within bullets. Must be done by hand. I just want to know for sure since the question came from the boss. I tested with all the other types such as A/a/i/I for numbered list, they produce the same look as bullets, does that sound right?

-- SophiaCiotti - 22 Feb 2008

But they do work as documented! See my examples above and below. What am I missing here?

  • Itemized
    1. Numbered
      • Itemized
        1. Numbered
        2. Numbered
        3. Numbered
      • Itemized
        1. Numbered
        2. Numbered
        3. Numbered
      • Itemized
    2. Numbered
    3. Numbered
  • Itemized

If you use any type such as A/a/a/i/I within bullets, it doesn't produce a numbered list, instead it just becomes bullets. Example * line1

  • line2
    1. line3
    2. line4
    3. line5

Produces: * line1

  • line2
    • line3
    • line4
    • line5

Instead of * line1

  • line2
    1. line3 b. line4 c. line5

Sorry, I don't understand your problem, maybe someone else does.

-- FranzJosefGigler - 22 Feb 2008

you are right, it works here, but when I cut an paste your code to my twiki, it didn't work there. I must be missing some plugin or patches or something on my twiki.

-- SophiaCiotti - 22 Feb 2008

smile Well, that's a completely different story. Already started to think I'm stupid.

-- FranzJosefGigler - 22 Feb 2008

Do you know what I might be missing? We just recently had someone upgraded the twiki, now it's not working. He's on vacation at the moment. Thanks for any info.

-- SophiaCiotti - 22 Feb 2008

Probably upgraded you to 4.2 which switches the editor to wysiwyg by default. Make sure you're editing in raw when you paste the code.
