Question

I'm trying to get PeerPlugin working around here. Followed the instructions, but TWiki/InstalledPlugins just shows PeerPlugin: (disabled)

I can't figure out what's happening, since the plugin does not output error messages. Anyone with experience out there?

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease04x00x02
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: Windows 2003
Web server: Apache 2.2.0
Perl version: 5.8.7
Client OS: windows
Web Browser: internet explorer 6
Categories: Plugins

I do not know if this Plugin is working on TWiki 4. Did you enable the Plugin in configure? TWiki 4 has a plug & enable Plugin interface, earlier versions had a plug & play interface.

I did enable the plugin using the configure script, and rechecked inside the config file. For some reason, the plugin appears in TWiki/InstalledPlugins but only mentions 'disabled', no version information, and the PeerPlugin wikiword is also disabled (doesn't link to the topic, even though it exists).

Putting two simple variables into WEBTOPICLIST, as recommended in the install instructions, as no effect. Indeed, these variables are inside html comments, and are supposed to be greyed out in the rendered page if the plugin is disabled. Taking the comment tags out, the variables are not replaced by html code - they haven't been defined. Anyway, this is probably the most complex plugin I've tried to install, with MySQL and all. I would be quite satisfied with even some hints on starting to debug it.

I'm afraid this question will have to wait for an answer until there's a new sponsor or author for the peerplugin.

Until then you could try dropping by at IRC and see if you can find some interest in helping out on solving this, or you can try contacting the (previous) authors of the plugin directly.
