General
In general, Internet Explorer works fine with TWiki except for some issues in specific versions, and generic issues which apply to all browsers -- see
BrowserIssues.
IE 5.0
New Features
* IE5.x (
InternetExplorer) has a useful password-remembering feature that makes editing a bit easier (and reduces load on the TWiki administrator due to forgotten passwords).
- You can highlight the signature presented for copy and paste on the Edit page, and drag this into the text editing area, letting you sign a comment using only the mouse.
- You can use Edit | Find to search within the text box when you are editing a page (very handy).
- You can install an InternetExplorerSidebar showing recent changes in an 'explorer bar' on the left of the IE window
Caching Problems
Other Problems
- IE5 has had some other less frequent data-loss issues - see ViewAfterSaveCachesOldPage - this is not fully characterised (some variants of this bug are non-IE-specific, and one variant is not cache related)
- If clicking on the "Edit" button takes you to the "TWikiRegistration (oops)" page, check your browser's "Internet Options" setting (under the "Tools" menu) is set to prompt for your (TWiki) user name and password. Go to the "Security" tab, select the "Internet Zone" and check under:
- Security Settings
- User Authentication
- Logon
- [x] Prompt for user name and password
IE 5.5
IE 6.0
Caching Problems
- The caching problem that existed in 5.0 still exists in 6.0. Most IE6 users find that the workaround implemented in TWiki also works for them, but in some cases this problem still occurs - see BackFromPreviewStillLosesText
CGI Loading Forms Problems
- Problem is due probably to one of the last Microsoft hot fixes. Seen for register (ntlm authentication in my case) - script works randomly. When problem occurs registration result is a WikiName error response in all cases (empty registration form; filled with good WikiName, etc.) because register get an empty parameter list from TWikiRegistration form. With FireFox registration worked fine (when IE 6.0 got the WikiName error, in parallel FireFox got the good response).
