Question

I'm looking for a way to have a variable expanded on save, and thereafter have its resultant text be a part of the page. I feel like this is probably just some simple variable usage that I've missed, but I've looked through what appears to be the relevant parts of the documentation and haven't found anything.

The only way to do this is to use a Plugin with a beforeSaveHandler. See ActionTrackerPlugin for an example.
