Question
ON submitting a registration for a new user Twiki registration page displays:
Internal error when sending email to .......
Please contact .......
You have not been registered.
I believe the Apache2 Error Log Message has important information:
Subroutine TWiki::Configure::Checker::tmpnam redefined at /usr/share/perl/5.8/Exporter.pm line 65.
at /usr/lib/perl/5.8/POSIX.pm line 19
The registration process is important for this installation because we need to know which individuals are modifying the pages. So turning off the registration is not an option longterm.
We are currently using Twiki successfully in a small animal veterinary clinic as an Intranet and have found that Twiki is a great way to organize all of our training materials, procedures etc. If only I could get this registration issue resolved!

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
That warning in the log is not relevant, I'm afraid. You can ignore it.
You have not correctly configured email somehow. I would have expected to see a more relevant message in the log. Check the twiki logs as well for more information, and make sure you have configured SMTP correctly or, failing that, can run sendmail from the command line.

I've got the same error. I didn't manage to get smtp working, so I want to rely on sendmail, but this one neither works (it says that the e-mail was sent, but I do not receive one). Can someone suggest how to set up SMTP by giving a relevant example? Thanks

I do have the same problem with new registration.
How is it ? Somebody figure it out to fix the problem?
the answer "You have not correctly configured email somehow" is not helpful. We know that something wrong with the SMTP configuration. But what's wrong and HOW to fix it.
