Question
A friend is giving up his life as a TWiki Administrator after being hacked recently via the
SecurityAlertExecuteCommandsWithRev vulnerability.
I've offered to host a few of his webs that are still in use from my
TWikiSite.
Before the hack, his site was running
TWikiRelease01Feb2003. Mine is now running
TWikiRelease04Sep2004.
Having performed the
UpgradeTWiki a couple of times already, I know from past experience that some interesting things are done during the upgrade. It's been a while, but off the top of my head I recall some new
TWikiVariables being introduced and some new functionality such as
WebLeftBar,
PatternSkin, etc.

Apart from copying over the
../data and
../pub dirs, what are the additional recomended steps for moving webs from one
TWikiSite running
BeijingRelease to another site running
CairoRelease ?
...

Please don't say that I should
UpgradeTWiki on the old box, just in order to move the webs off and turn it down

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
You can safely just copy the data/Web and pub/Web directories. Cairo rendering is compatible with Beijing (but we need to work on Dakar to assure the same)
The only thing that is needed is to copy some additional topics as described in
TWikiUpgradeGuide, Manual Upgrade Procedure, Adapt the other webs. Namely, add topics
WebLeftBar and
WebSearchAdvanced.
