Question

Is there any way to get a better Editing Widget (something that allows advanced editing or better: vi mode :-). Editing large topics can become a pain with the normal textfield widget in my/most browsers.

Should be a user-preference. Could this be done with Javascript? Any pointers?

Answer

This is definately an oft discussed issue. For Internet Explorer there is a JavascriptBasedEditor, and more generally, much talk about an AppletBasedEditor. There are some other Codev editor topics as well, but start with the first two.
