Thanks Detlef for contributing this add-on, I am sure some companies will find this useful.
I made some changes to the add-on topic, you can take this back into the next release if you wish:
- Prevent link to oneself
- Use
%TWIKIWEB% instead of TWiki
- Use
%BR% instead of <br> (which is illegal XHTML)
- Use InterwikiPlugin rules to prevent broken links in a deployed installation
The
* Set %CTR_RED%=UNDERREVISION syntax looks unusual for a setting. Possibly align with the standard
* Set NAME = value syntax?

If this addon just adds features to
ApprovalPlugin should it not be part of that plugin rather than a separate one?
--
MartinCleaver - 12 Jun 2005
Umm, yes, don't know why I invented the percent wrapping. I should correct that ...
And, yes, a merger of both tools may be desirable. However, the designer of the ApprovalPlugin couldn't add the list feature in time for my requirements. So I invented it myself and made a separate addon of it. So I didn't have to understand his code and could get a quick solution. We had to have a
fast solution here ...

Running the cron perl command I just get the following error:
Error: Couldn't open the report topic file for reading.
The command I am using is:
perl /var/www/html/bin/makectrltopicslist.pl /var/www/html/data/Radiotherapy/ControlledTopicList.txt
Where is this going wrong. It is finding the right file, because if I use an incorrect file name I get a different error. The permissions on the report file are set to 664.

Even 644 is enough ... but you must ensure that you run the script as the user who created the file (apache or nobody - however you system has been set up).
Different Unix and Linux distributions handle this differently. Some expect the user name in the cron line, others have dedicated cron tables for each user. Please do a 'man cron' or 'man crontab' on your system.

I added a SHORTDESCRIPTION to the "Add-On Info" section so that this add-on is represented properly in the
AddOnPackage topic and query topics. Please feel free to take this into the next release.

Please note that
ApprovalPlugin has been superceded by
WorkflowPlugin. This script should be updated to operate on topics created by
WorkflowPlugin...

This script does not work with
WorkflowPlugin. I made a crude change to makectrltopicslist.pl (I don't know perl). I changed META:APPROVAL to META:WORKFLOW on line 129 and replaced :APPROVAL with :WORKFLOW on line 134 and it seems to work again.

To work with the
WorkflowPlugin I found you also need to modify line 133 by replacing "status" with "name".

I just released version 1.03 which deals with the new requirements of the WorkflowPlugin and has a slightly optimized settings syntax (as PeterThoeny suggested). See
MakeCtrlTopicsListAddOn.
