Currently this page contains only a few "new" resources I've found. An older list of resources is on another page and a Word document in the process of being "refactored".

Sendmail stuff
I don't have any intention of learning sendmail, but some sendmail resources might be useful to a better understanding of email servers in general:
Setting Up an Email Server
- Mandrake User: DocSection: Connectivity: Mail The Unix Way; How to install a fully automatated mail-system on your Linux box. -- looks like one of the better resources I've found. Disappointing it took me this long to find it -- next time I get busy on an email server I'll try these instructions.
- (rhk) Mail; A.P.Lawrence / PCUNIX -- should be helpful
- (rhk) Postfix+Courier-IMAP+MySQL for multiple domains HOWTO; Kirby Menzel and Lucas Peet; viewed 23 Apr 2003 — skimmed the beginning (didn't read) but seems a little more recent than my stuff and has a lot of details — if it's not too focused on the multiple domains it might be quite useful — I should read this before I set up another email server (or revise all the junk on WikiLearn)
Command Line Email
- [[http://linux.oreillynet.com/pub/a/linux/2003/05/22/email_history.html?page=2]Command-Line Email: Tricks of the Trade]]:
- Telnetting into the SMTP and POP servers
- Sending Standard Output as an Email Message
- Encoding Binaries to ASCII (man uuencode)
- Sending a Large File as a Series of Smaller Ones (man shar)
Other Stuff
Looks like the qmail site (
http://www.qmail.org) has some good resources for email in general, including man pages that explain various aspects of email, for example,
http://www.qmail.org/man/man5/mbox.html which covers the mbox file format.
