Just some (minor) musings on what domain registration is about -- if I was going to do some major musing, I might begin to wonder (as others do) why the availability of top level domains should be restricted and create a money making entity (even though it
might officially be a non-profit corporation (I really don't recall whether it is or isn't)).

DNS with addresses like
rhkramer@System8PLEASENOSPAM.homeSTOPSPAM.d without actually registering a domain name -- but I suspect I'm just touching on one of the things that registering a domain name does for you -- it (or your "registrar") creates MX (and other) records for your domain in the global distributed database that is
DNS.
