Question

This may seem like and extremely trivial question, but no where can I find what defines a "Topic Summary". Perhaps it is buried in the TWiki docs? Thanks

Environment

Server OS: Unix (solaris)
Web server: Apache/1.3.26 Server
Perl version: 5.6.0
Client OS: WinXP Pro
Web Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030208 Netscape/7.02

Answer

This is not really documented. Basically the first 162 characters of the topic with some manipulation like spam padding and variable expansion. Read the code, file CVSget:lib/TWiki.pm, sub makeTopicSummary.

Peter, thanks for the response. I will attempt to extract the info that I need from the topic - I'm still new at this ;->

There's more discussion on this topic, including alternative options for explicitly defining the topic summary in AllowDesignationOfSummary.

Very interesting thread -- I think beign able to define section in a more general way can be a very useful feature. I am just now exploring the wizardry behind $pattern and realizing that I simply do not have the regex background that I need.
