Question

Our public TWiki seems of late to be attracting a number of spammers who enjoy adding "content" to the TWiki of a sometimes risque at at best danged annoying nature.

What I'm wondering is if there is any way to:

1. Require that the user reply to the registration e-mail properly in order to gain write access.

2. A "number image" type of verification can be used to defeat automated resgistration.

I'm hoping that either or both options/plugins exist and I've just not been diligent enough in my research to find it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Environment

Answer

DakarRelease requires the validaion of the email address. We'd welcome image verication. Got some code?

No but since I originally posted this I might have run across someone I can talk into creation of the code. I'm planning on doing some polite arm twisting.

In the mean time I suggest to install the BlackListPlugin, it is pretty good at catching spammers.

James - it would be great if you could own this feature build - if you start this, can you please progress the topic ValidateUserWithImageVerification?
