Question

Hello. I have users that are going to be using a TWiki for collaboration on the content of MS Word documents. What I need is a way to get the Word Docs into and out of TWiki pages easily (as some users are, well, inexperienced). What we'd like to do is move a Word document into TWiki with it's formatting preserved then to collaborate online and then quickly and easily export the TWiki page (with formatting) back to Word for final composure and distribution. I have tried using Word's Export to HTML option but it is clunky at best. Does anyone know of an easy way to do these conversions? .

  • TWiki version: Sept 2001
  • Web server: Apache
  • Server OS: Linux
  • Web browser: Netscape 4.x
  • Client OS: Windows Computers

Answer

There is no ready solution that I am aware of. The topic has been discussed at MsOfficeIntegration (and maybe other places as well). A solution might be built out of wvware (for word2html or word2wiki conversion) and the GenHTMLAddon plugin (for wiki2html conversion) provided the authors could be constrained to keep their layout-type formatting to a minimum.
