Question
I noticed (in unfortunate fashion) that some scripts that worked in TWiki 4.0.5 and earlier seem to be missing from the 4.1.2 version.
We had been using a script in
tools/
called
mod_perl_startup.pl
in order to run mod_perl with TWiki. This worked with <=4.0.5, but the script went missing in 4.1.2, and I failed to note its disappearance. Despite many restarts of the Apache server during testing of the upgrade, this wasn't made evident to me until this weekend, several days after the upgrade, at which time, for whatever reason, Apache finally refused to start at all. Once the file was replaced from the old version, Apache was happy again.
I also wondered why our mail notification of changes wasn't working after the upgrade: users were being sent blank emails instead of the normal change reports. I checked the
bin/
directory of the upgraded version and noticed that
mailnotify
was missing. I then examined the new installation and found that the script seems to have been moved to
tools/
, so it's not missing, but it's not where our scripts expect it to be. And since it's no longer in the same directory as
setlib.cfg
(in
bin/
), the script exits with an error.
Just wondering if I missed something, as I checked the upgrade guide and other places and don't remember seeing mention of these scripts. If so, please point me in the right direction, especially if there are more changes that might affect a 4.0.5 instance that has been upgraded to 4.1.2.
Thanks!
