SID-01662: Where Are Instructions for Manual Plugin Installation?

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.1.4 Perl version: N/A
Category: CategoryPlugins Server OS: N/A Last update: 10 years ago

The TwikiUpgradeGuide, in the Install Extensions section, says:

"Manual installation is possible. Follow the instruction on the plugin page at twiki.org".

I looked in http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/TWikiPlugins and http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/WebHome but I didn't see any mention of how to install plugins manually. Where is this mentioned?

The reason I'm asking is because I have ~20 plugins, and installing them manually in a new Twiki is a big pain.

Discussion and Answer

Most plugins should have the instructions how to manually install. Basically two choices:

  1. Unpack into twiki directory tree, while preserving the directory structure. Fix file ownership of the unpacked files to be owned by webserver user.
  2. Or, run the ...Plugin_installer.pl to install.

Hmm, TWiki.org docs should be updated.
