Question

I'm facing the same problem as below. This was asked a long time back at

http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/MegaTWiki

I am seeing a problem with MegaTWiki. Whenever I try to add a topic to any webs, the topic is getting created under one level above the web where Intended. For e.g if I try to add a new topic "GeneralTest" under Main/Test/Subfolder, the topic is getting created under Main/Test. But I guess as a work around I can create a topic directly by creating a TWiki url and add it to the side bar, still I would like to have the create new topic working fine.

Is there any bug fix available to this? MegaTWiki is an excellent Interface , I hope this bug has been fixed.

Regards

vamsi

Answer

I am extremely sorry to say, Vamsi, that MegaTWiki is not part of TWiki and, since its release over a year ago there have been endorsed plans to bring them together. The CoreTeam have either not the capacity or not the intent to bring its features into the codebase as there is disagreement about whether all or some of the features are needed and what bits of its implementation are acceptable. Until such an integration project happens the TWiki used by Sun (MegaTWiki) is CodeFork and separate to TWiki. As time passes it will probably get harder and harder (and therefore less and less likely) that the two products will come together again; when I last contacted PeterNixon by email he said that he is no longer in a position that will give him the freedom to integrate MegaTWiki with TWiki.

IIRC, Peter had said that the issues of expanding the CoreTeam would be addressed. I suspect that this happened about six weeks ago and he did not give a date for such an expansion so I don't want to raise your hopes. (My apologies for losing the topic on which I think he said this. I should also note that Peter has been away on holiday for a month of this time.)

In principle such a process might start something along the lines of the CoreTeamNominationDiscussions, we have several competent new people on the scenes including TedPavlic and PavelGoran that would be ideal new players and many of the established TWikiContributors would help if we had an agreed direction to pull in. The CoreTeam could ask for patches for inclusion in the core or for specific redesigns for specific items, with the conditional guarantee that these would make the core. Alternatively the core team could set up a separate CVS repository and allow the community to test a collaboratively written core. All this has already been asked for so I don't know what more I can do to get progress on this issue.

I would write more but I am already off topic.

In the short term the only thing I could suggest to your question is to contact Peter Nixon directly, but I would be surprised if he has the capacity to support anyone seeing as he did not respond to the last message I left him at MegaTWiki.

Thank You Martin for the details. I will try to contact PeterNixon regarding this. Can I contact anyone else on MegaTwiki? I'm really surprised to see that development has stopped on MegaTwiki from past one year. MegaTwiki can definetly be a great feature if it can be a part of TWiki.

This has been fixed in the new release thx to PeterNixon ! You can dowload the latest version at MegaTWiki !
