Question

Is there any way to tie Twiki to an LDAP repository OR is there a way to configure TWiki (or is this a "To-do") such that when a user adds him/herself, the .htaccess file is automatically updated? This latter point is absolutely crucial to the adoption of Twiki as opposed to some large commercial tool.

Thank you!

Environment

Answer

See LdapAuthenticationHowTo and HowToTranslateLdapLoginToWikiname in this web, and LdapPlugin and LDAPPasswordChangerPlugin and the Plugins web.

The .htaccess file does not need to be changed for each new user, TWiki does its own group handling. See TWikiUserAuthentication and AccessControl.
