Question
OK, so I downloaded the VM, and got that working. I've spent the past few days playing with many configuration options, and learned a bit about the environment.
I'm not a total linux/wiki newbie - I've used Ubuntu a bit & mediawiki on apache/WindowsXP for a while now.
But, try as I might, I can't get all your upgrade docs to work simply upgrading your VM to the current version. Evidently I need the current version to get the
PersonalInfoAddOn plugin working correctly - I tried fudging it for a while, and got close, but no cigar. I think that extension could be the killer app that convinces folks here that this could be useful, so I'd really like to get it going.
I don't want people telling me to RTFM, etc. because I have done that. And (sadly) there's no one that knows more about linux in our company than me (not meaning I know a lot, but that no one else knows anything), so I can't appeal to the "network admin" or somesuch.
It seems like upgrading should be pretty simple, especially considering apache is already set up in the VM. Among other things, I tried renaming the old installation, then doing EXACTLY what the install documents describe -unpacking all the files, chmoding to get all the right permissions, creating the config files that need to be created, etc. I must still be missing something apache side, because that didn't work.
Unfortunately I've since reset the VM so I can get some actual work done on it so I don't have the error messages.
BUT, someone MUST have downloaded the VM & updated it...if it's not possible to just post an updated VM (No I don't want to use
JumpBox's version), could someone post the steps they followed in non-uber-geek terminology?

Hi Andy,
I update my VM from TWiki 4.0 to TWiki 4.1. I do not remember each individual step but I think I just followed the update descriptions given.
Perhaps two things:
- Make sure, the directory
...twiki\apache-logfiles
exists. On problems always read the apache error.log carefully.
- Make sure, the file
...\twiki\twiki_httpd.conf
exists (normally just a copy of twiki_httpd.conf.txt
).
Hope that helps.
