Question
Using the extremely elegant VMWare installation (
TWikiVMDebianStable) I got up and running easily. But I wanted Swedish as the interface language (which is available according to the documentation). Yes, there is a similar question about German in the FAQ. I did what seemed required (changing the configure settings AND put in an "set LANGUAGE = sv" clause (both HTML pages included). But nothing happens. Do I need to restart anything ? (probably not).
It was quite hard to find information on this matter. Instructions intended for developers tend to be mixed with user settings information in the documentation. If I get this running I'll promise to write an easy to read howto!

Answer
If you answer a question - or have a question you asked answered by someone - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status is in a drop-down list below the edit box.
If you use pattern skin (default skin) you ought to see a language dropdown in the top bar. Are you able to change your language there?

It worked after I rebooted the virtual machine. Is this really necessary? Anyway, thanks a lot! Now I can procede with my projects which I will report on later.

It's possible you are running into a problem with
SpeedyCGI, which is enabled in
TWikiVMDebianStable - basically, rebooting the VM is a way of forcing SpeedyCGI to re-read the Perl scripts/modules - see
TWikiVMDebianStable for some tips on this. However, choosing the language via the drop-down mentioned shouldn't involve any SpeedyCGI restarts anyway as this is a per-user-session setting I believe.
You might also want to get onto
TWikiIRC to ask
AntonioTerceiro about this, or comment on
UserInterfaceInternationalisation.
