To disable the standard edit buttons in web WebName (Pattern skin):

1. Create templates/view.nob.tmpl 

%TMPL:INCLUDE{"view.pattern"}%
%TMPL:DEF{"edit_topic_link"}%%TMPL:END%
%TMPL:DEF{"edit_wysiwyg_link"}%%TMPL:END%
2. Add the following line to WebName.WebPreferences: 
   * Set SKIN = nob,pattern

You may also want to disable create_topic_link, wysiwyg_create_topic_link, and attach_link the same way.
