Question
I'm attempting to install TWiki on a hosted servers and am following directions provided in
HostedTWikiRCSInstall . I'm admittedly a newbie with installing cgi scripts and such and got stopped at the first step of the instructions that read:
"1. Uncompress and change a couple of config file paths from default to local virtual account (it's in the install instructions)."
I been reading the
RCS installation instructions and can not find (or at least understand as such) any reference to the changing the config file paths from default to local vitual account. Can anyone give me some more directions here, perhaps with a simple example or two? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm chomping at the bit to get my TWiki site up and running!
- TWiki version: Lastest
- Web server:
- Server OS: Unix
- Web browser: IE 5
- Client OS: Mac

I got work back from my host (Aletia) that they have
RCS already installed so my question above may be moot at this point. However, I still have other questions about my installation so if there's anyone out there that would be willing to mentor a newbie setting up a hosted TWiki, I sure would appreciate it. In return, I'll contribute to the general knowledge base regarding helping others follow my path. Let's get more TWikis out there in the world!!

Answer
You can just post followup questions here, if they are
RCS related - otherwise, just create a new question page here, and I'm sure someone will try to answer your questions. Including plenty of detail on exact error messages and config files is always a good idea, of course!
One initial step - type
uname -a at the shell prompt of your host, and find out what version of Unix it's running. Then, do a Google search for tutorials on that Unix version (or even better, buy a good book - Mark Sobell has written some great Unix and Linux books but there are lots out there.)
