Question

TWiki is with no doubt one of the most powerful wiki engines. But it has one big disadvantage - the history function. I find it very hard to check the changes that have been made to a TWiki topic. I think revision control is the most important feature of any wiki engine. The best history function I know, is the one of Mediawiki. Is there any hope that TWiki will get a similar history function in the near future?

• In Mediawiki you see all versions in chronological order (each on one line, just the version's date, change comment, and editor) with little checkboxes to their left. You can select two versions and compare them then, the older one will be displayed on the left, the newer one on the right, changes highlighted. Yes, a complete list of all the versions would be very useful. Sometimes, it makes sense to compare two versions with more than one version in-between. Meanwhile, I found out that at least sidebyside diffs are possible in TWiki: TWikiFormsDiffRendering. But I like the highlighting in Mediawiki better because it is more refined. One could immediately see if only a singular word was changed. In a Twiki wiki, one often spends a lot of time finding out what exactly has been changed to ones own contribution because you don't see minor changes at first glance. In Mediawiki, I also like the link at the top which leads you to the next diff and that the complete text follows the diffs on the same page.

The new HistoryPlugin provides some of the proposed functions.
