I've just installed TWiki and it's working apart from displaying the GIFs that come with the standard web. This is like SamKritikos, but unlike him I have the pub tree and bin tree separate, both under http://www-dev/~rdonkin/twiki/.

The generated URLs for images look like www-dev.orchestream.com~rdonkin/twiki/pub/twikilogo3.gif (with http prefix, omitted for readability here)

The Apache access log has lines such as

192.168.16.24 - - [29/Nov/2000:10:35:24 +0000] "GET /twiki/bin/view/Main/~rdonkin/twiki/pub/wikiHome.gif HTTP/1.1" 200 345

Answer

A slash is missing between the host name and the URL path for the generated URL. The access logs shows that the twiki path is shown twice. Make sure that $pubUrlPath is set correctly, in your case probably /~rdonkin/twiki/pub
