Question

I need to edit away the top frame and edit the sidebar from within the twiki. Is there any way to do that? I can have FTP access but this should be do-able right?

What do you mean "edit away"? You want to change them? Delete them? In all modes or just view? Is there a reason you can't use a TWikiSkin?

Either way, you need to edit the template files in the templates directory. There is no way to do that from the browser.

The bars may be hidden via CSS. Have a look at PatternSkinCustomization
