Question

I am getting a number of probelms when installing the DBCachePlugin. Firstly, when the plugin is enabled and I run the installer for another plugin (for example: UserInfoPlugin_installer), i get the following message:

ERROR: bad Map expression at -ContractAudit at lib/TWiki/Contrib/DBCacheContrib/Map.pm line 125.

I have also noticed this similar message when trying to save changes on a topic in the Main web:

ERROR: bad Map expression at -ContractAudit at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/CGI/Carp.pm line 314. at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/CGI/Carp.pm line 314

This only happens in the Main web, the others are all fine as far as I can tell. Also, the above message only showed in Firefox. In IE, I only get a 'Server Not Available' error.

I am running an upgrade of Cairo to Dakar if that may be a cause of the problems.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Andrew

Answer

We have had similar problems with this error appearing every time a save was made on the WIKI. I have tracked it down to using hyphens "-" in topics, where both a parent and a child topic has hyphens. By renaming the parent to "_" instead or "-" the problem disappeared.

There has been a problem for a while with DBCachePlugin (and DBCacheContrib) where the user gets a long error message when saving a topic when any topic in that web has mal-formed meta-data. It is now getting addressed with Bugs:Item4967 and the user will not see the error message but it will be logged to the apache log.
