Question

I had a working version of TWiki that is now failing for me when a new user tries to complete the registration process by entering the activation code (or clicking the link in the email sent by the TWiki Registration Agent).

The user receives this message: Can't locate object method "new" via package "TWiki::Plugins::DBCachePlugin::WebDB" (I will attach the apache error output along with configure output and a debug file.)

The module WebDB.pm exists in /twiki/lib/TWiki/Plugins/DBCachePlugin has rwx permissions for all users and has the appropriate constructor method. I have checked all permissions on the parent directories and files. It would appear to be a pathing issue, but the path to the module has not changed.

$twikiLibPath in LocalLib.cfg is set correctly to /twiki/lib.

In the cgi session directory, I see that generated cgi sessions have changed ownership around the time that this issue appeared. (Previously sessions were owned by the root user, now by the apache user.)

Am I looking in the right places? What else should I be looking for?

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or have a question you asked answered by someone - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status is in a drop-down list below the edit box.

Ultimately this required backing out the BlogPlugin, DBCacheContrib and DBCachePlugin, then reinstalling the DBCache* plugins only. I would still like to understand the problem more thouroughly, but no one seems interested.

Sorry Mr. TWiki Guest, but there are a few hints and infos that are missing to successfully answer your support question. Before that, how about registering an own user account and don't post here anonymously. Second, please insert the list of installed plugins and contribs in the "Environment" form above. It seems so as if the plugin did not compile. This is most probably an unsatisfied perl dependency or a syntax error in the plugin. Have a look at your apache error log too and see if there are any related information.

Just a clarification: Anonymous posts are welcomed as well. We should keep an open environment in the Support web where everybody is welcome, also guests. Let's keep the initial barrier to entry as low as possible. (For the Codev, TWiki and Plugins web we ask people to register before contribution.)
