Question

I have a fresh install of Twiki on a server I have full access to. I have gotten config to zero errors and 2 warnings. When I try to edit a page and save it, I get errors. Using RCSWrap I get: During save of WebPreferences an error was found by the version control system. invalid string argument 'Roger' %USERNAME|S%

Using RCSLite I get: During save of WebPreferences an error was found by the version control system. illegal characters in file name component Program Files of filename F:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs/Twiki/data/Main/WebPreferences.txt,v

I am tried both and can't get either to work. If someone has any ideas on what to try for either or both settings I would really appreciate it. BTW, I am using apache basic auth and Twiki seems to recognize my name 'Roger'.

I checked the warning logs and all my problems are based on line 140 of sandbox.pm, but that alone does not help me bebug this problem. Since I am new to Twiki I could really use some help here. Here is a sampling of the warnings:

As described in the best Windows install cookbooks, you are not allowed to use spaces in the path to your TWiki installation. You can use the Windies 8-character normalised form instead e.g. F:/progra~1/... Fix all the paths in configure.

There's an issue with 3.2.3, where in the LocalSite.cfg, the NameFilter entry contains the ~ character. This causes you not to be able to save ANYTHING in that version of TWiki if you're using shortnames.

I had to remove the ~ character from the NameFilter entry in LocalSite.cfg to get my 4.3.2 version to save proplerly under Windows. Note, I had the Twiki version wrong in my previous comment.
