Question

A developer working for us got our Wiki up today and in trying to edit it I discovered I can only change each file once. On any subsequent attempt I get this message:

"Error saving topic During save of Main an error was found by the version control system. Please notify your TWiki administrator. RCS: failed to create file /twiki/data/Main/WebHome.txt: Permission denied

Go back in your browser and save your changes locally."

Environment

TWiki version: unspecified
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: Cygwin 1.5.18
Web server: Apache 2.2.4
Perl version: 5.008007
Client OS: Windows XP
Web Browser: IE
Categories: Version control

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or have a question you asked answered by someone - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status is in a drop-down list below the edit box.

Added: This problem isn't happening in the sandbox web of our site

Added: Ok, I'm ONLY having this problem on webhome, websearch, webleftbar, etc that I can tell. I would assume it's permissions except that I can edit the pages exactly once. Any ideas?

Strange error I have not seen before. Check the permissions and ownership of the .txt and .txt,v files and of the twiki/data/* web directories.

To find out the owner, run configure, and look for the CGI user in the CGI Setup section.
