Question

I'm really excited about the new query search but don't currently have the IT resource available to do the full upgrade from version 4.1.2 (I don't have the skill to do it myself). Is is possible to just install the new search without doing a full upgrade?

No, I'm afraid not. However you can use the DBCachePlugin to perform query searches, though unfortunately the search syntax is slightly different.
