Question

My new install of twiki seems to work fine except that lists don't work unless I have several leading spaces before the asterisk. If I simply put it in the left column like the examples, it's like the code to parse the text doesn't recognize my asterisks as an attempt to do a bullet list. There are no errors in the testenv script. Lots of stuff like RCS seems to be working just fine. I can register new users, no problem. I am using basic authentication which is working fine. I have tried logging onto the sandbox of wikipedia.org just to verify that I understand list syntax and that nothing is wrong with my client PC or browser. The linux box is a hand-me-down which I have not attempted to re-configure.

Answer

Arrgh! After I RTFM, this behavior appears to be deliberate! I just assumed that it worked the same way as wikipedia, that is, you don't have to count out three spaces, hit the asterisk, and hit another space.
