Question

I have some project information on a public webserver using Twiki and these pages are indexed by various web search engines. In reviewing my web logs I've noticed that there are a large number of /bin/view/oops/smarthome/... hits which are being hit by the robots and it appears to me that at least one search engine out there is braindead enough to fold URLs to all lower case. This causes the real content to be missed and lots of oops pages to be indexed. I think TWiki might need to accept page URLs that have been folded to lowercase and still retrieve the mixed case version of the page. This would prevent content in TWiki installations from being hidden to the world.

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease01Feb2003
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: LinuxFromScratch
Web server: Apache 1.3.26
Perl version: 5.6.1
Client OS: various
Web Browser: various robots

Answer

Yep, this is a similar issue to FileSystemNameClash, and I hope to get this done in DakarRelease
