Question

I've installed TWiki 3 times thus far, following the instructions by the word, and still have issues. There has to be a better way to install TWiki, either through a current/maintained script or php front-end. Documentation in AdditionalServerOptions mentions, for example, a Redirect line for htaccess which is not referenced in the initial InstallationGuide (pertinent to authentication). When I go to http://myserver.com/twiki, I'd like to see the Main TWiki page, not the history docs, etc. I know how to manually get around this, but it's clearly not documented in the InstallationGuide.

I hope this is something being considered for the next release, to make TWiki easier to install and maintain.

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiBetaRelease
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: FreeBSD
Web server: Apache
Perl version: 5.8
Client OS: XP
Web Browser: IE

Answer

It's not clear what issues you are having, but since you are on FreeBSD you can just use the FreeBSD ports system to install TWiki - see TWikiOnFreeBSD for details.

The more advanced docs are probably not as good as they should be - if you can see areas where you can make specific improvements to the docs, by all means head over to TWiki and make them, so they can be included in the next TWikiBetaRelease.
