Question

Hi, We need to do Twiki Authentication through Table in our databse where we can have the columns required like user name, password etc. So could anybody please guide me on this.

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease04Sep2004
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: Windows XP
Web server: Apache 2.2.4
Perl version: 5.8
Client OS: XP users
Web Browser: IE 5 or more

Yes, it is possible, I wrote an authentication module (for TWiki 4.0.3) that uses the user and password table from Joomla for a client last year. I'm currently busy re-writing the UserMapping code for 4.2 to make this even simpler.

I don't think it would be quite as easy in the 2004 (v3 / Cairo) release, as I had to make quite alot of changes in 4.0.3 to make it work.

So I guess mostly it depends on hw quickly you need it, and how much perl coding experience you have.

I am trying using 4.1.2 now. But the problem i am facing now is after the Registration when person get mail to authenticate itself, so when he tries accessing the page they get error like /usr/bin/rcs -x,v -i -t-none -ko %FILENAME|F% of .../Main/SteveSev.txt,v failed to create history file. I think the error might be due to the Re locking need. But in 4.1.2 version does not have "nobody" user by default. So wat can be done. Please suggest something..
