Question

I upgraded from Cairo to Dakar. Everything seems to work except the topic page is laid out upside down. Using the default Pattern skin, top to bottom, the topic appears as:

  • Content with empty menu area to the left.
  • Action menu across the bottom of the content
  • Menu appears to the left below where the content ends.
  • Then the header graphic with search and jump input boxes
  • Then the copyright notice

Permissions of the upgraded tree and the old one moved out of the way are the same, as far as I can see.

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease04x00x05
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: Fedora Core 2, kernel 2.6.7-1.494.2.2
Web server: Apache 2.0.51
Perl version: 5.8.3
Client OS: Windows 2000
Web Browser: Firefox 2.0.0.1
Categories: Installation, Skin

With important help from the TWikiIRC channel, my situation is resolved.

It appears that the UpgradeTwiki script does not copy/merge all of the directories. With direction from the IRC inhabitants, I copied contents the distributed version of the pub/TWiki/PatternSkin directory into the same directory of my upgraded installation. This solved the "upside down" problem because the new .css files were not present in the upgraded installation.

I am proceeding to follow the manual upgrade instructions at TWikiUpgradeGuide.

Nice to see that you are up and running. We are aware of the issues of the UpgradeTwiki script. See also Bugs:Item3394.
