The idea of showing [current_topic]Dev and [current_topic]Appraisal in the left menu is good but it leads to some weird edge case topics -- misuse -- like this one. And of course, if you follow it again, it could lead to the creation of WebLeftBarAppraisalAppraisal.

Is there some way this could be restricted to only show when the topic being viewed is actually a plugin or addon?

Yes, you can conditionally suppress the bullet with some SpreadSheetPlugin magic.

Take a look at the ExtensionsDevHeader, Matt. The two are related and neither is quite perfect yet.

OK, I added a conditional section to the WebLeftBar, shown if the topic name ends in -AddOn, -Contrib, -Plugin or -Skin.
