Feedback on ThumbnailPlugin

-- TimotheLitt - 21 Dec 2008

Thank you Timothe for sharing this plugin with the TWiki community! Don;t forget to tag/tag-vote your plugins so that people can find it.

Timothe, can we fix docs, test for TWiki-5.0 and update the plugin? It has a "contact first" policy.

-- PeterThoeny - 2010-08-07

Sorry for the slow reply - you really should use e-mail when when you need a timely response.

Sure, you have the write token. Be aware that there is a foswiki port, so please don't make changes in a way that will make diffs/merges more difficult than necessary.

Also, note that although I'm listed to receive ThumbnailPlugin* change notifications, I did not get an e-mail announcing your request. Perhaps your change notify script needs attention.

Just checked - and fixed cron tab. Mail should be OK now.

Giving you the write token does not change the "Contact author first" policy. The policy is set so that changes are coordinated. I expect the token to be returned when you're done.

Also, a usage note - I added it to the topic, but not the kit (if there's another release, I will):

  • The following WEBPREFERENCE setting will generate a thumbnail whenever an attachment automagcally creates a link
      * Set ATTACHEDIMAGEFORMAT = \n   * %THUMBVIEW{"$name" caption="$comment"}%

This makes it very easy for the non-technical user to add an image with thumbnail - just drag the image(s) onto the add attachment zone, and they appear as a list of clickable thumbnails at the end of the topic. No knowledge of syntax required.

Oops - well, you don't have drag and drop yet - but it works just as well with the old-fashioned attach dialog smile

Enjoy.
