MeetingTimePlugin

Idea for a plugin.

The past several years has turned corporate structure into a whole mess of timezones. It can seriously take 20 minutes to decide how & when to schedule a conference call/meeting (with different people in calif., western europe, middle east, east asia).

This simple plugin would:

  • display a small map of the world (optional)
  • allow user selection of different site offices
    • up to 2-4 site offices is a realistic usage
  • allow user selection of arbitrary places (customers pop up in the wierdest locales nowadays)
  • allow user to enter their site (timezone) and a few approximate meeting times, plus bounds for "standard work day" (i.e. no one wants 5am call)
  • click "find me a time for my meeting"
  • plugin runs best-fit algorithm & displays time suggestions.

I've started the process by adding a parameter to LocalTimePlugin so you can at least display the time of the meeting in your localTime: I agree completely, being able to see the 'core hours' of a geographically distributed TWikiGroup, so you can see the best time to work together would be very very nice.

is TimeZone on the UserForm yet?
