MediaWikiSkin? Development
MediaWiki has the 800 pound gorilla on the public internet. We can make it easier for admins at work to switch over to TWiki if TWiki looks like MediaWiki. Someone has done that for
DokuWiki; see the "Monobook for DokuWiki" templates in action at
http://www.tatewake.com/wiki/projects:monobook_for_dokuwiki
I think three things can be done to have a perfect migration solution:
- Create a MediaWiki lookalike TWiki skin (discussed here) (possibly based Monobook for DokuWiki templates?)
- Create a discussion-per-page feature (can be done with INCLUDE)
- Create a EditSyntaxPlugin regex set for MediaWiki so that raw edit can be done in MediaWiki syntax

Erm, MediaWiki is not scoring in look&feel. The only interesting things for users coming from mediawiki that they want to carry over are:
- sectional edit
- page history
- separated discussions per page
- categories
- edit toolbar
- speed & scalability
Most are happy not having to continue using the MediaWiki design.

I agree on a technical level. On the MediaWiki lookalike skin, I was thinking more on the user perception.
