Feedback on GitPlugin

-- ThomasWeigert - 2010-09-12

Thank you Thomas and everybody else who worked on this plugin for sharing this very useful enhancement with the TWiki community! This is very much in line with the TWikiMission. TWiki is frequently used by large organizations that have a presence around the world, this extension makes it easier to share content.

Yes, Peter, this is precisely what I am using this for. I have this installed in 4 locations world-wide sharing TWiki seamlessly.

-- ThomasWeigert - 2010-09-13

A word of caution: the installation process is rather complex due to the need to set up the communication infrastructure, but it is well worth it, if you find yourself logging into multiple TWikis, possibly going through firewalls in the process.

We have a many people already using TWiki-5.0. When you find time I recommend to test for 5.0 compatibility and fix/enhance if needed.

For major TWiki extensions like this I recommend to maintain it in Subversion, e.g. SVN:GitPlugin.

An update has been uploaded which includes performance enhancements for very large webs (> 1000 topics). Special handling for some plugins is added to synchronize their work areas.

Thank you Thomas for sharing this update!
