So, what is CUE?
CUE stands for CISCO Unity Express.
From a developer's perspective, it is a module which sits on top of another module called CME. CME is a module on a router and it runs using the environment provided by the CISCO IOS(Internetwork operating system - router's operating system). CME is responsible for controlling the VoIP phones and CUE is responsible for providing applications like Voicemail, automated attendant and Interactive Voice Response for these VoIP phones
From a user's perspective, It is an application which provides Voicemail, automated attendant and Interactive voice response functionalitites. - Affordable messaging and greeting services for increased customer service and rich employee communications
- Intuitive telephone prompts and a Web-based interface for fast, convenient voicemail and auto attendant administration
- Ability to view, sort, search, and play back voice messages using the display of a Cisco Unified IP Phone or your e-mail client
- Scalability from 4 to 16 concurrent voice mail or auto attendant calls and 12 to 250 mailboxes
- Deployment flexibility with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express ,cisco Unified Communications Manager , and Cisco Unity systems
- Centrally manage voice services at branch locations
- North American and British English; Canadian and European French; German; Italian; Danish; European, Latin American, and Mexican Spanish; Brazilian Portuguese; Japanese; Korean; and Mandarin Chinese language support
CUE is available as a Network Module or Advanced Integration Module, Cisco Unity Express is a simple addition to Cisco 2600XM, 2691, 2800 Series, 3700 Series, and 3800 Series Routers.

Configuration for CUE Development
This entire document is intended for helping configuration or setup on Router and IP Phone and Local Linux Machine.
The document is divided into 3 main sections namely:
1. Getting Started and the Linux Workstation Set Up
If you are a new user in CDF or if you have a new Linux box, then the above document has to be referred to get started configure
2. Setting up the Router and IP Phone
If you have a new Router and a new IP Phone, the above document has to be referred to for configuration
3. CUE/ CME Integration and Configuration
CUE and CME Integration and Configuration are to be made as described in the above document.
4. Working With Code
Details on building, working with ACME and CUE Editor are described in the above document.
5. Cool Tips
This completes the configuration and set up of the CUE development and testing environment.
