With no way of structuring variables (e.g. into arrays) and an increasing number of creative uses for variables (HardwiredRDiffColours, plugins), I fear that variables (both the static kind and the (not renamed - AreVariablesReallyDirectives) dynamic kind) are becoming too numerous and haphazardly used too remain complexibly managable.

Additionally the dynamic type are already a performance overhead (PleaseInstallPluginsAtTWikiDotOrg) and given enough static ones (especially those that reference each other or where order of evaluation is important), these may eventually impact performance as well.

To reiterate though: My main concern is the manageability. We need a strategy.
