SpamAssassin is a popular and very effective OpenSource tool for filtering out spam emails - see http://spamassassin.org for details. Written in Perl, SpamAssassin works in most Unix/Linux email environments, for individual users and large sites.

SpamAssassin could also be useful in SpamProofingOfComments, since it is implemented by a set of CPAN modules.
