If authentication is turned off then every user looks like a TwikiGuest, and there is no way to log in. It would be nice to be able to click on a Login link and enter your name and password so that edits automatically get your TWikiName as a signature.

This is possible. Use SessionPlugin, the script with that need be the only one that gets authenicated. Plus, possibly viewauth.

I think this means that we can have a Login Link on the Top menu - it just does a viewauth on the current topic.... (need some way to do logoff then too.)

It would be nice to have a different login mechanism - we're using TWiki on the Inter- not Intra-Net and we've found that the Wikipedia-mechanism is more user-friendly. People don't have to log in if they don't want to. They can log in/out at will. It think that's a good alternative and I'd like to have that functionality in TWiki. Can't code myself though ... frown .
