Nice tool. Easier to use than Sodipodi (on which it is based) or even Gimp/Photoshop for some of us less artisitically inclined types.

Advantages:

  • Scaled. That means you an draw in the big and scale down. If you do that with GIMP or other raster tools you can get bad cases of the jaggies
  • Exports. To bitmap forms GIF and JPG and PNG which are relevant here.
  • Imports: Can import a bitmap and make a reasonable attempt to convert it to SVG and has clean up tools.

Scalable+vector gets around many of the klutzy things use non-artists run into while offering power for the real artists.
