Bug: Putting a search in a pattern skin toolbar results in an infinite loop

Putting a %SEARCH% in the left bar of the pattern skin results in an infinite recursive loop in the rendering. Tracing through the code, it looks like any search, regardless of the ultimate formatting, results in the internal generation of an entire page, including loading the menu bars again. However, I've only seen the problem under PatternSkin, for whatever that's worth. I've tested under DragonSkin and whatever skin it was that shipped with the previous version of TWiki.

Test case

Just put a in the tool bar. Anything seems to work fine, regarless of the results or how they are formatted.

Environment

TWiki version: TWikiRelease01Sep2004
TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: RH Linux 9.0, Kernel 2.4.20-8
Web server: Apache 2.0.40
Perl version: perl 5.8.0
Client OS: Same
Web Browser: Firefox 0.9.1 (Mozilla 5.0)

Follow up

Joe - it seems you should vote on SearchInTemplateHangsTWiki; but your report is certainly interesting given how closely related the two skins are.
